April Hankins is a painter and printmaker. Her work is brightly colored, highly patterned abstractions in oil on canvas and panel, linoleum prints, drawings and hand colored photo prints. Her images are mystical and mathematical, influenced by Fibonacci numbers, Buddhist thangkas and tarot cards, painted with intellect and passion. April received an MFA in painting and printmaking from Yale University School of Art in 1991 receiving the Ely Harwood Schless Memorial Fund Prize for excellence in painting. She received her BFA in painting from Massachusetts College of Art in 1988. Her works are in the collections of the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, Pfizer, Inc., the New York Public Library and Yale University Art Gallery, as well as many private collections.
