Born in Oakland, California in 1963, Bradley White never received any training as an artist. Instead, he went to U.C. Berkeley and became a lawyer. He started doing photography in 1995(see www.scenic-images.com)with an emphasis on nature. He began to paint in 2002 after a personal loss and since them has painted in a wide variety of styles, from impressionistic to abstract. He always drew doodles while on the phone at work. He started painting after a secretary in the office asked him where he had purchased one of his doodles, thinking it was a drawing by another artist. Thereafter, he started painting in gouache and moved on to acrylic and finally oil. Additionally, he recently was the first place winner of the July 2004 Oakland Art Association, Oakland Chamber of Commerce Exhibition.

His artwork has been described as calligraphy in painting which is unusual and effective.

Having collected the art of the Haida and Kwakiutl tribes of Northwest Canada, he always enjoyed so-called primitive art. Many of his works are an exploration of the themes, colors and symbolic expressions of ancient traditions through the use of automatism and gestural techniques. In other works, he utilizes the concepts of fractal patterns in order to imitate structures in nature through an abstract style. (See A New Kind of Science by Stephen Wolfram.) It is his goal to paint nature itself rather than painting objects in nature for by doing so the painter is not separated from nature but becomes a part of it. To achieve this effect he utilizes brushes, palette knives sponges and even a drip technique. These paintings depict nature itself with all of its wonder, complexity and energy.
