CARLOS ALFREDO LAGOS
Carlos was born and spent his early childhood in San Salvador, El Salvador. HOWEVER, the political climate of the mid-sixties and other factors resulted in the relocation of his immediate family to the U.S. where he began assimilating his newly adopted North American culture; in the Washington, D. C. area.
IT WAS DURING HIS EARLY YEARS IN SCHOOL; that his interest in European cultures led him to travel and study the French culture. Successfully learning how to speak, read and write the French language.
Pursuing his desire to experience other cultures firsthand; at age 17 he began his travels in Europe. Then, as now; museums, monuments and food occupy a great deal of his time in his travels.
These varied experiences awakened his artistic talents in painting and also in the culinary arts. His formal education took place at Eastern Washington University with an emphasis on Art History and French.
WHILE LIVING IN FRANCE, Carlos also attended the "Acad?mie Culinaire de Paris, Le Cordon Bleu?. Where in June of 1995 he received the coveted ?Grand Dipl?me de Cuisine et de P?ttisserie?.
His paintings have found their way to collectors in Japan, Europe and Latin America. Locally he has been exhibiting since 1987. Culminating with a successful exhibition in Paris, France in 1997.
Other achievements and endeavors have included the position of Art Director in the formerly known ?M/V Stardancer? for Admiral Cruises.
One could call Carlos an "ARTIST AT LARGE"; always busy, whether working on a new painting, developing a new culinary recipe, digitally manipulating his photographic observations or just absorbing life in his home in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon.
