Born in New York City in 1963 to Italian immigrant parents, Flavia is a self-taught photographic artist, earning two Honorable Mentions at the New York State Fair her first year in business. She is the current recipient of the New York State Fair's Blue Ribbon in the category, "Nontraditional Photography, Professional."
Flavia has a master's degree in science, and taught high school science for 12 years before taking the plunge in 2004 into selling the artwork she had been creating for years for her own pleasure and for gifts.
Entering the 2004 New York State Fair's photography competition -- her first-ever competition, and only a few months after decided to become a "professional" photographer, Flavia's works not only were accepted for exhibition, but both items submitted earned "Honorable Mentions" in the category of "Non-traditional Photography, Professional."
Although she began by selling her work at arts and crafts festivals in upstate New York (and continues to do so), she now has some of her work available at a Finger Lakes area specialty boutique. Her work is also available directly from her at her website.
She has lived in New York City, Binghamton NY, Durham NC, and the Washington DC area. She currently resides in Rochester NY with her husband, two young children, border collie, golden retriever, and 4 cats.
