Jeff Lassiter was born in a small town in Iowa. He began drawing and painting from the moment he could pick up a pencil. Throughout his childhood, he was encouraged by his family, and spent many afternoons sketching television characters with his mother.
He has always melded different aspects of pop culture into his artwork. While friends would play with toy cars and tractors, Jeff was drawing pictures of Archie fighting Darth Vader or Wonder Woman and Nancy Drew teaming up to fight Jason from the Friday the 13th movies.
While in high school, he discovered the work of Andy Warhol, and met Keith Haring. These two events infomed his views on art and fueled his desire to be a painter. He graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art with a degree in visual communications.
After college graduation, he worked in a variety of locations as a freelancer. During this time he began painting seriously again. He began painting murals in and around his hometown, as well as portraits of local figures. He was soon selling his artwork and handmade frames around the country. Today his work hangs in private homes and businesses throughout the country, as well as several European locations.
Today Jeff resides in Chicago, where he continues to paint and exhibit his artwork. He has been a member of several group exhibitions, and three one man shows. His artwork is currently on display in several venues around the Chicago. He can be contacted by email at artguychi@hotmail.com
