Born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1968, I spent my childhood there and on the island of Barbados, with a few visits to the USA. I was a dancer and a piano student and an equestrian. When I was 13, my family emigrated to Boston, MA, and I continued in music and dance. I also began dabbling in the art of drawing and painting - but I never displayed my work as I had an older sister who was an accomplished artist and I didn't think I could compare.
Through the years, I made it my hobby to paint anything I could find and explore different media. I also tried all sorts of crafts. I was the proverbial jack of all arts and the master of none.
In 1999, I became gravely ill and surprised doctors, family and friends when I survived against terrible odds. Although I sport only a slight handicap, the inability to walk around with confidence or balance, as well as my lower stamina led me to explore "easier" (less physically demanding)ways in which to create my art. My husband got me a WACOM tablet, and digital art became my passion.
I was invited to exhibit my art work at the offices of a local San Diego firm (pai-ca.org) alongside the work of another diabled artist. I have been invited to a show in September, also in San Diego, at St. Paul's Cathedral.
