"My name is Kenneth Colwill, I have been creating artwork for 48 years and am originally from Manhattan, New York but I have called Long Island, New York home for the past 25 years. I work exclusively with oil paints, I have worked in most other mediums but have always come back to oil painting, it is my passion. I got my start in oils when I was 7 years old when my father allowed me to use his oil paints and brushes for the first time, it was the most thrilling experience of my young life and I was hooked.

I learnt the basics of oil painting from my father, then ran with the creative process until I realized that painting connected me with God in a very real and mystical way. At that point painting turned into prayer and my worked changed forever. Over the years my painting has matured and continues to do so, it is a spiritual experience for me, I live to paint.

The smell of the oil paints connects me to the medium, the feel of the canvas grounds me to my purpose and prayer in the Holy Spirit gives me intention. Every picture I paint is a piece of who I am. To know my work is to know me."
