Artist Statement:
For most of my life, I have painted portraits. I have only recently started to concentrate on seascapes. I see the ocean as very peaceful and calming, and I aim to convey this in my work. I also like to covey the oceans power.
The thing I love about art is watching a painting come to life. A painting has many stages of development before it is finished, starting from the initial sketch to the final painted details and highlights.
My goal is to create an accurate portrayal of the way the light affects the subject matter. This is captured by the use of colour, as the colour we see is the end result of the effect of light. The closer I get to achieving an accurate representation of an image, the more I begin to capture its very essence. From this, the audience can feel and experience everything that is reflecting from the image. Image is very powerful, as our mind thinks in pictures and it is the very basis of how we tick.
