The giant columns which characterize this series are depicted in full flower here. The relatively large 30" x 40" format enhances the dramatic effect of an aerial view of objects too large for the canvas. The relative sizes of the two large columns implies that the larger extends some 10 ft above the pictures extents. The unexplainable beginning of the river and the diminutive rainbow and storm cloud in the distance further convey scale and mystery. And aren't the little babies columns cute?
