Rebecca Lopez
My name is Rebecca Lopez And I am an artist.
I have worked for many years doing digital paint, but have found more satifaction lately with real paint on canvas or paper. My work is a reflection or display of my inner impressions, opinions, wishes and whimsies, which I cannot put into words. For that reason, you will see minimal description of my work. I appologise for this. I am more or less a quiet woman with a hyperactive imagination. I reside in Ohio with my two little girls, and a cat named Arthur who is always attired in a tuxedo. My Mom hangs out with us too. ( ok..she lives with me, because my kidneys arent always nice to me, and I can use the help. Bless her heart.) I can be seen gallavanting around town with my companion of many years...I have him to thank for his constant support of my arting adventures.

I have heard its a good idea to write as much about oneself and art as possible. So I will elaborate some on my art making history.
I'm self taught. I would comment on the art classes I had in high school, but even then I more or less found my own way and style. I ended up winning art competitions on the State level as a result of that.
I stopped doing any art for about 10 years until I bought a computer and discovered image editing programs. I played with those and realized I could paint and draw in them. I began doing so in ernest, making realistic portraits with my mouse.
I eventually began exploring my own set of inner symbols and making pictures that described my mental landscape at the time.
I recieved alot of favorable attention online for my art, and eventually with enough people refering to me as an artist, I began to agree.
However the debate about digital art being "real" when held up to traditional art haunted me. I felt a need at first to prove myself in traditional mediums. Now, I simply prefer it, as well as anything else that gets me away from the computer.
Painting by traditional means has been my refuge from this hectic world. And given me a satisfaction that nothing else ever has.
I work in acrylics, and watercolor mostly. I am going to be expanding to collage in the very near future.
Thanks for reading and looking...
and I always enjoy comments and questions about my art.
Please feel free to email me anytime.
