Sue Everitt is a painter living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. A native to the Bay Area, she studied with notable artists such as Rupert Garcia, Sam Richardson, LeRoy Parker and Barbara De Genevieve while in the MFA program at San Jose State University in the early 1990s.
As an award-winning artist, Ms. Everitt seeks to create art that invites multiple meanings. Through the use of media imagery, personal photos and text, Ms. Everitt re-represents these elements to create a narrative that leans towards sarcasm and introspection. She embraces the pop concept of "Object as Art" and is interested in offering possibilities, not in necessarily directing the viewer. Her work focuses on the play of color, movement and object, bringing out an emphasis on perspective and lighting which enhances the subject/s.
Ms. Everitt is currently working on a series of paintings relating to family and memories, taken from personal recognition, family photos and historical imagery.
Ms. Everitt has participated in many solo and group exhibitions including the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art’ Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, CA; Phantom Galleries; and The Center for Performing Arts in Mountain View, CA.
